What sets us apart
When we start work for a new client, we don’t always bring in new cleaners. But we do bring in new motivation. Everything we do encourages our cleaners to give your work their undivided attention. That level of attention makes every hour of cleaning worth more.
Commercial cleaning demands more than simply showing up – it requires organisation, training, intelligence, the right equipment and, most importantly, respect.
Hands-on management
Every client has an operations manager: their key contact at JR&Co. Our OMs have three priorities: to keep your premises clean, to keep you happy, and to ensure your cleaners are treated fairly and respectfully.
Your manager will be hands-on, visiting your premises frequently. We ensure they always have the time and space to manage your cleaners proactively and respond to your needs thoroughly.
All our OMs hold Level 1 and 2 NVQs in Cleaning and Support Services. They’re fully trained, from customer services to manual handling, and will work with you to maintain the highest standards of performance.
Respect for people
Historically, the commercial cleaning industry has not put people first. They’ve been trained and supervised poorly, and treated even worse. But JR&Co has always taken a different approach.
We train our staff properly, and give them the right tools for the job. We reward them fairly, pay promptly and offer stable shifts that make their working days predictable. Where possible, we support them with technology and cobotics, so they can focus on the cleaning tasks that require more finesse and human intelligence.
Respect for the environment
The commercial cleaning industry needs to embrace sustainability – and JR&Co is leading the way. In fact, we believe that reducing our impact on the environment is integral to our success as a business. That’s one of the reasons we are a certified B-Corporation.
We’re committed to efficient energy management, and our environmental management system complies with ISO 14001.
We’ve reduced all single-use plastics in our operations to a minimum, and we’re continually working to reduce our carbon footprint. This includes new technologies that include all-recycled cloths, low-water technologies, non-chemical cleaning agents in pre-dosed dispensers, moving to an EV-only fleet, and creating our own contract management app to reduce paper use.
And we’re equally committed to giving back to society. We take an ethical approach: by 2024, our social value contributions totalled over a quarter of a million pounds.
Training & motivation
We ensure thorough training in health and safety, security procedures, cleaning skills – and of course, our clients’ specific requirements.
Solid processes and procedures mean our people know what to do in every conceivable situation. We undertake monthly on-site training to ensure they’re up to date on everything from new legislation to new equipment.
We give them clear career development plans and recognise exceptional performance. In fact, our retention rates are three times better than the industry average. Security
The Home Office estimates that hundreds of thousands of people are working illegally in the UK. But they’re not working for us – so they won’t be working for you.
All our employees, from directors to part-time cleaners, must visit our HQ to pass positive identity and enhanced DBS checks, and provide biometric data. This protects our employees from exploitation, and ensures that no risk is passed on to you.
- Positive ID check: employees provide photographic ID with a machine-readable zone (such as a passport, visa or residency permit) that checked against the applicant by one of our team.
- Verifying documents: we authenticate the documentation against the world’s largest reference database for passports, work permits, and residence permits: fraudulent documents will be flagged.
- Biometrics: we register each employee on our database with their biometric data, allowing us to automatically trace everyone accessing client premises.
- Visitas™ facial recognition: we positively verify that the right individuals are attending the right client premises at the right time every day.
Technology & equipment
Equipment quality has a huge impact on our cleaners’ performance. Good equipment does a better job – and it’s easier to use.
We only use high-quality and environmentally friendly equipment and materials. We have our own equipment maintenance team and workshop to ensure reliable service for you. Wherever possible, we support our people with cobotics to free them up for tasks that require human intelligence and finesse (e.g. touchpoint cleaning).
We only use biodegradable, antibacterial and environmentally friendly products, and we carry out regular swab testing to ensure we maintain hygiene standards that can’t be verified by visual inspection.
Transparent performance
Communication is at the heart of good service. So we’ve put it at the heart of our operations. We’ve invested in management information systems that provide objective, real-time views of attendance and performance:
- Our systems and processes monitor quality and automatically report any service issues in real time
- Our management reporting includes informal weekly audits and formal monthly audits
- Cleanliness audits are recorded electronically, including photos, to provide objective information
And all of this management information is completely transparent – so you know what we know.
Our teams can capture information, generate reports, record site interactions, generate quote requests for extra services and instantly assign remedial actions. And your OM has it all to hand on their mobile device.
